Aside from the occasional boss, you pretty much know what you are up against. The enemies consists of several types, that repeat throughout your adventure. The upgrading of powers has been improved as well, with 4 rings of possible upgrades, finding the right mix is actually fun, not a chore.
I didn't find much use of the other weapons, but found the Mag, and machine gun as a must. Tagging enemies and sending them across the screen was a great joy. Your trusty hammer is back, although, i didn't use it much.
Gone are the endless vehicle rides to get to your next destination, also gone is the ability to go anywhere and destroy anything. If you enjoy a good story, solid progression, and even a little challenge, this episode of Red Faction is great. If you are the "sandbox" player, probably not the best game for you. After playing through the first time, i must say, that i was very impressed.
